About the Author
Kim Hansen earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego and teaches sociology in Maryland where he lives with his wife and son.

Great book...well worth the price!!!

As a military Chaplain, I was really interested to read this book.
Overall, this is a very clear, concise and accurate (!) picture of what it means to be a military chaplain. While Military Chaplains and Religious Diversity is focused on the issue of how chaplains deal with different faith traditions, Kim Hansen brings in other aspects of chaplain life, including personality disputes and the narcissistic tendencies of most chaplains.
The author gives a brief over view of the history and customs of the various Chaplain Corps. Following this, he deals with the emerging religious patterns in the modern world (focusing mainly on Islam and Wicca). Following that he then turns his attention to some of the bigger issues chaplains face.
Overall, I found this work to be very well balanced. The author brings out the good that happens in the Chaplain Corp, but also deals with the negative things that happen there as well.
His writing was very clear and not very technical, which means that it is easily accessible and interesting for those who do not have a military background.
Obviously the people who are going to be most interested in this work are military chaplains, but this might be a good read for church leaders who work with chaplains and military leaders who want to more more about their staff corps personnel.
