And then what happened?

I bought this movie adaptation for my son since he really enjoyed the Captain America movie and it looked like a good book we could read together. The story more or less covers what happened in the film, with considerations for the younger age group. You never actually see the Red Skull's exposed face, for example. It features a full size image from the movie on every other page, which is a major plus.
So why only a three-star rating for this otherwise impressive storybook? It has NO ending. You know that battle at the end were...well, I'm not going to give away the details in case you haven't seen the movie yet, but the book abruptly ends with some cheesy line about how Captain America has to win this fight. That's it. No final conflict, no resolution at all. I understand the ending might have been hard to soft-pedal for younger readers, but they didn't even try.
I don't regret buying the book, if for no other reason than the nice illustrations. I wish they could have delivered a complete story though.

Captain America: The First Avenger-America's Secret Weapon introduces the reader to the main characters of the Captain America: The First Avenger movie. The book profiles Johann Schmidt (who is also Red Skull), Colonel Chester Phillips, Agent Peggy Carter, Dr. Abraham Erskine, Steve Rogers (who becomes Captain America), and a few other characters. What makes this book unique is that it is written in the form of several letters of correspondence and top secret files. Though a picture book designed for younger readers, adults will learn a great deal about all of the major characters of the Captain America movie. In short, this book is a great supplement to a great movie. Highly recommended.
