Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp of Smyrna were two of the greatest leaders of Christianity in the first half of the second century. Their combined writings provide a unique window on the faith, life, and practice of the early Christians. Careful reading of these writings demonstrates the unique place that the early Fathers of the Church hold in establishing the foundations of historic Christianity. Their relevance for contemporary ecumenical discussions is beyond dispute.

An Excellent Edition of the Works of Ignatius and Polycarp
By Penny Shepherd
Dr. Kenneth J. Howell's translation and commentary of the works of Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp of Smyrna is an excellent resource both for those new to the works of these saints and to those knowledgeable in theology who would like to learn more about these saints and their writings. Above all, reading Ignatius and Polycarp is a great opportunity to grow in the faith these saints professed. One cannot help but admire these men whose love of Christ led them even to martyrdom.

The book begins with a series of introductory essays which provide overviews of Ignatius's and Polycarp's lives (and deaths) as well as their theology. Howell does an admirable job of putting their writings in context, both historically and theologically. He pays particular attention to how these writings influenced the later development of theology, showing the continuity between these early saints and the theological tradition which developed after them. For example, he examines how Ignatius's theology of the Church provides the seeds for the eventual description of the Church in the Nicene Creed as "one, holy, catholic, and apostolic."

The introductory essays also provide a synopsis of current debates on the interpretation of these two theologians; while Howell makes his own position very clear, he also acknowledges, briefly describes, and references alternative viewpoints. This allows the reader to make more informed judgments about the theology of Ignatius and of Polycarp, while giving the more serious student the information needed to study the different interpretations in more depth.

The translation and commentary comprises the seven letters of Ignatius, Polycarp's Letter to the Philippians, and The Martyrdom of Polycarp. These writings provide a window into the early Church and into the issues that were important to early Christians. Far from merely conveying information about ancient theological disputes, they offer perspectives that are valuable for modern-day theological discussion and, above all, are fruitful spiritual reading. These are writings that can be prayed with as well as read. The extensive commentary elaborates on each translation and on the theology of the letters themselves, giving the reader a deeper understanding of the saints and their writings. Howell brings to the texts the eye of a trained theologian as well as that of a faithful, prayerful believer.

Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp of Smyrna
By Pete
I first learned of Ken Howell and his Early Christian Fathers books when I interviewed Mike Aquilina in April. That interview can be found here. When Mike Aquilina, whom I consider an authority on the Early Church Fathers, recommends a book it's a good idea to check it out. You will not be disappointed with this one. There are actually two volumes in the series thus far. This review will concentrate on the first volume, Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp of Smyrna. The book consists of two parts. The first being a collection of essays on Ignatius and Polycarp, the second part is Ken's translation of six letters by Ignatius, one by Polycarp and one about the Martyrdom of Polycarp. Starting with the essays, I was impressed with the amount of information Ken managed to squeeze into the 6 essays that lead the book off. The other thing of note is that the Kens writing is accessible to practically anyone. Sometimes when you pick up a book of this nature in can be filled with pretty deep theological writing but I did not find that to be the case here. Don't get me wrong the book is not a light weight read but it's not an extremely difficult one either. It sits right in the middle where I feel anyone can understand and benefit from it.

The essay chapters themselves cover a number of topics. Two that I particularly enjoyed included the one on "The Martyrdom of Ignatius". It explains the events leading up to Ignatius' martyrdom as well his viewpoints on it. Ignatius readily accepts martyrdom to the point of "desiring" it. He refers to it as a "sacrificial offering" and himself as a "substitute soul" as a sacrificial martyrdom for Christ and his church. The next was the one titled "The Church in the Ignatian Letters." This chapter did a fine job pointing out how important Ignatius felt the structure of the early church was. Bishop, Priest, Deacon in that order provided the structure the infant church needed to survive. This chapter made me, once again reflect on a saying I have read numerous times, "To study the Fathers is to cease to be Protestant".

The second part of the book holds the translations of the letters themselves. Each letter opens with brief paragraph or so detailing what the letter is about. Each of these letters that Ken has translated is packed with footnotes making it a valuable source for study. I took an extra step and had my Spiritual Director thumb through the letters. He has studied in Rome and knows multiple languages and has read the Early Church Fathers (in fact he introduced to them with my first assigned reading being by Iraeneus). He saw nothing wrong with Ken's translation vs. the ones he has used. This is an important point. There are non-Catholic translations on the market that tend to twist the translation to suit their own agenda....not so here. Lastly another nice feature is the "Index of Principal Greek Terms." For those of us unable to read Greek this is a neat couple of pages. I highly recommend this volume and commend Ken Howell for the undoubtedly hard work that went into providing us readers with a valuable and accurate translation. In his book Faith of Our Fathers, Mike Aquiline told us WHY we should study the Early Church Fathers. In this book Ken Howell gives us the tools to start those studies on two very interesting Fathers, Ignatius and Poly carp. I look forward to reading the second volume soon. I received a copy of the book for this review from The Coming Home Network. You can find more information on the book at their website.

Collected Later Poems 1988-2000, by R.S. Thomas

R.S. Thomas (1913-2000) is one of the major poets of our time, as well as one of the finest religious poets in the English language and Wales's greatest poet. This substantial gathering of his late poems shows us the final flowering of a truly great poet still writing at the height of his powers right through his 70s and 80s. It begins with his autobiographical sequence "The Echoes Return Slow", which has been unavailable for many years, and goes up to "Residues", written immediately before his death at the age of 87. These powerful poems -- about time and history, the self, love, the machine, the Cross and prayer -- cover all of his major areas of questioning. This is R.S. Thomas in a winter light, his fury concentrated on the inhumanity of man and modern technology, his gaze absorbed by the God he felt in Nature, but finding nourishment in 'waste places'. At the same time he writes with resigned feeling and immense insight, as well as grim humour and playful irony, of isolation, ageing, marriage and 'love's shining greenhouses'. For Thomas, 'Poetry is that / which arrives at the intellect / by way of the heart.'

Review
'Like Yeats, Thomas has produced his most powerful work in his old age - reminds me of Beethoven's last quartets in its fearless exploration of the mysteries of life and death - He is the first great poet since the Metaphysicals of the 17th century to draw his images from the science of his day' ---Denis Healey

No More Questions?
By Roger G. F. Barker
This book is a must-have for all fans of R.S. Thomas. It repints in full his last 5 collections, and is therefore a sequel to his wonderful Collected Poems 1945-1990. The first four of these later collections were published during his lifetime (he died in 2000 at the age of 87), and the last one, appropriately entitled "Residues", is a posthumous collection by his literary editor of pieces found in Thomas' desk . The astonishing thing is that his literary power remained to the end.

This book is his final gift and a wonderful one it is, too.

A Poetic Voice Still Powerful
By Mary P. Chatfield
I have loved the poems of R.S.Thomas ever since i first heard of him. He has seemed always to see into the heart of things. His poems, very seldom more than half a page, offer a dense, but clear vision of whatever he is writing about. This volume of his later work is particularly intense. The honesty of the autobiographical section (actually a small book) The Echoes Slow Return, which opens this volume will make you weep.

A colossus of our times. Often austere and remote ...
By John Champion
A colossus of our times. Often austere and remote. Yet as intimate as an unspoken thought. In cinematic terms, think of Tarkovsky's Solaris, with the mother washing her child's hands. Thomas and Tarkovsky were both working close to the dividing line, from either sides of which God and man observe each other.

Taking Appearance Seriously: The Dynamic Way of Seeing in Goethe and European Thought, by Henri Bortoft

The history of western metaphysics from Plato onwards is dominated by the dualism of being and appearance. What something really is (its true being) is believed to be hidden behind the 'mere appearances' through which it manifests. Twentieth-century European thinkers radically overturned this foundation. With Martin Heidegger and Hans-Georg Gadamer came a major step towards taking appearance seriously, exploring a way of seeing that draws attention back 'upstream', from what is experienced into the act of experiencing. Understood in this way, perception is a dynamic event, a 'phenomenon', in which the observer participates. Henri Bortoft guides us through this dynamic way of seeing in various areas of experience -- in distinguishing things, the finding of meaning, and the relationship between thought and words. He also explores similarities with Goethe's reflections on the coming-into-being of the living plant. Here, in another reversal of classical thinking, we find that even in their 'diversity of appeareances', living things are not separate but in relation. Diversity is the dynamic unity of life itself. Expanding the scope of his previous book, The Wholeness of Nature, the author shows how Goethean insights combine with the dynamic way of seeing in continental philosophy to offer us an actively experienced 'life of meaning'. This book will be of interest to anyone who wants to understand the contribution and wider implications of modern European thought in the world today.

Review
'Henri Bortoft is one of the world's foremost experts on Goethean science. Here he extends the argument of his earlier work The Wholeness of Nature to articulate a new history and philosophy of science with an emphasis on a dynamic way of understanding that highlights process rather than product, the coming into being rather than the end result. This represents a fundamental shift away from abstraction to lived sensory experience, and from the dominance of left-hemisphere thinking to a more integrated approach. This is a seminal text that deserves the widest audience.' -- David Lorimer, Scientific and Medical Network 'Taking Appearance Seriously is a rare philosophical work of both outstanding quality and immense practicality, written to guide the reader into really experiencing what Henri Bortoft calls the dynamic way of seeing: a radically aware way of thinking and comprehending our complex world which is as applicable in the creative arts and business world as it is in science.' -- Simon Robinson (editor of Transition Consciousness). Resurgence & Ecologist 'Bortoft's aim is to help readers see and understand the world and human experience in a more integrated, compelling way. Exploring and developing previous work on the fascinating relationship between parts and whole through the lenses of phenomenology, hermeneutics, and Goethean science, Bortoft demonstrates convincingly the need to shift attention from what is experienced to the experience of what is experienced. In a writing style that is both accessible and penetrating, he shows how to do this by drawing on examples from our experience of meaning, understanding and language. By teaching ourselves to become more sensitive to this dynamic way of seeing, we learn to "take appearance seriously".' -- David Seamon, Professor, Kansas State University, and Editor, Environmental and Architectural Phenomenology 'Through his carefully crafted prose Bortoft takes us on an incredible journey in which we learn to shift the focus of our attention away from our common-sense view of a fragmented world of subjects and objects, into our experiencing of what we experience. This is not just an exercise for the philosophically curious. If we are able to make this shift we enter into what Bortoft calls the dynamic way of seeing. The genius of Taking Appearance Seriously lies in Bortoft's ability to extend his previous work on the science of Goethe, guiding us into a deeper level of perception, i.e. this dynamic way of seeing. The importance of this, and also the reason why this dynamic way of thinking may be so hard for us to comprehend in the first instance is that we are trapped in the left-brain way of conceiving the world. By following Bortoft's work slowly, we are led into a way of thinking that brings harmony and balance between the two sides of the brain.' -- Simon Robinson, Resurgence

The Henri Bortoft phenomenon
By Ashtar Command
Henri Bortoft is a physicist and former student of David Bohm with an interest in continental philosophy. He is also a teacher at the Schumacher College in Britain. Bortoft's most well-known book is "The Wholeness of Nature: Goethe's Way of Science". His recent oeuvre "Taking Appearance Seriously" covers much of the same ground, but the emphasis has shifted from Goethe to Gadamer. It's also shorter than the Goethe book.

I originally assumed that Bortoft was an Anthroposophist, since both his works are published by Floris Books, an Anthroposophical press. In "Taking Appearance Seriously", Bortoft clarifies his relation to Anthroposophy, by stating that he isn't interested in the esoteric speculations of Rudolf Steiner, while regarding Steiner's strictly philosophical works (especially those dealing with Goethe's worldview) as very insightful. Bortoft seems to bemoan the fact that Steiner later left philosophy for somewhat more odd pursuits.

I'm not an expert on the subject-matter of this book, so I can't say if Bortoft's interpretations of Goethe, Heidegger and Gadamer are correct. I suspect that the author's project is to somehow fuse Heideggerian phenomenology with a Romantic evolutionism, using Steiner as a middleman. Nothing wrong with that, per se. I also get the impression that Bortoft's perspective is at bottom spiritual. Although he never explicitly ties his worldview with spirituality, it sounds like a dynamic form of pantheism. Indeed, it makes little sense outside such a context.

The book is difficult to summarize, but its main point is to do away with dualism, including subject-object, being-becoming or essence-appearance. At the same time, Bortoft wants to avoid relativism. To Bortoft, there is no distinction between an objective world "out there" and the way this world appears to us. The appearance (coming-into-being) of phenomena *is* the world. There is nothing beyond it or behind it. But doesn't the world appear differently to different observers? Isn't that relativism? Bortoft answers no: the world actually does appear in various forms and guises, each being equally true, each also being the same world.

The world is always One, but it's a "multiplicity in unity", which necessarily takes different forms. The world isn't a homogenous whole, seen from different perspectives by limited observers. No, it really is ontologically multiple. It's also dynamic, forever becoming and appearing anew. This sounds familiar to students of Hinduism, Buddhism or the ACIM, but Bortoft emphatically does not say that the phenomena we experience are illusions, or only relatively real. On the contrary, the various "worlds" which appear to us are robustly ontologically real, despite being completely different from each other and constantly evolving. A "Western" form of pantheism? At one point, Bortoft's make a positive reference to Ferrer's and Tarnas' "Revisioning Transpersonal Theory", reviewed by me elsewhere.

Bortoft applies his "dynamic way of seeing" to both the multiplicity found in nature, to literature and poetry, and to language. Thus, he rejects the idea that we should be looking for "what the author really intended" when analyzing a novel or a poem. This creates a dualism between the real meaning (forever beyond our grasp) and various interpretations (which are wholly subjective). Rather, a work of literature has multivalent meanings which change and evolve over time, all being equally true. Apparently, this is what Gadamer referred to as "tradition". (As a side point, this makes me wonder what Radical Orthodoxy, with its love for Gadamer, really means when talking about Christian "tradition"? See my review of "Introducing Radical Orthodoxy" by James K. A. Smith.)

I admit that I'm not entirely satisfied with Bortoft's arguments. They are easier to apply to some phenomena than others. It's easy enough to see how this hermeneutic could be applied to poetry, which often uses multivalent or evocative language. It's less obvious how it can be applied to, well, more or less everything else. Thus, when discussing language, Bortoft argues that language makes the world appear - at least to a human, there is no "world" outside language, not because language limits our perspective on a world "out there", but because no world can exist unless made to appear in and through language. Bortoft's example is a deaf and blind girl who felt something cold on her hands, and had a kind of revelatory experience when her teacher spelled the word "water" in her palm. This, evidently, was the appearing of water in her world. But the phenomenon we choose to call "water" clearly existed (and even had physical effects on the subject) already before the naming, making the example feel somewhat awkward. Bortoft also admits at two points in the book that there are bad or erroneous interpretations of literary texts, but how is *that* possible if everything is multiplicity-in-unity? What is the objective criterion, standing above the various interpretations? To Bortoft, plants are an example of the One being many, but there doesn't seem to be any objective criterion for "good" or "bad" plants. At another point, Bortoft says that what is "moral" depends on the situation. Perhaps the One sometimes manifests in a destructive, ridiculous or downright evil way? If so, nobody can claim that a crackpot interpretation of Goethe, the U.S. constitution or the Bible really is bad or wrong!

I'm not saying "Taking Appearance Seriously" is a bad book. It's probably the only readable book on phenomenology of any stripe I've seen. For that reason, I give it four stars. Nor can it be denied that Bortoft makes interesting or even valid points. Sure, the world is "multivalent". (Just look at the bewildering variety of schools within phenomenology!) But how far does the multivalence go? That is the question.

An expansion of his previous work in "The Wholeness of Nature." I loved every page. Very thought provoking and, in a way, very practical.

Shakespeare: A Book of Quotations (Dover Thrift Editions), by William Shakespeare

Shakespeare is without doubt the most quoted writer in English. His plays and poems comprise an inexhaustible source of memorable and often profound thoughts beautifully and concisely expressed. This remarkably affordable volume presents over 400 quotations conveniently arranged by topic: love, marriage, conduct and morality, truth, beauty, time, death, music, and more.
Included are such timeless observations as: "All that glitters is not gold," "Brevity is the soul of wit," "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is/ To have a thankless child"; "While you live, tell truth and shame the devil!"; "The very substance of the ambitious is merely the shadow of a dream," and many more. Romantic thoughts receive a particularly rich treatment; extensive selections on the subject of love include quotes from the plays ("The course of true love never did run smooth"; "Speak low if you speak love") and sonnets ("For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings,/ That then I scorn to change my state with kings"). Each quote bears a complete citation.
Ideal for writers, speakers, students of literature, and any lover of Shakespeare's works, this inexpensive treasury lends itself admirably to a virtually endless number of uses, from casual browsing to designing personal greeting cards.

About the Author

"He was not of an age, but for all time," declared Ben Jonson of his contemporary William Shakespeare (1564–1616). Jonson's praise is especially prescient, since at the turn of the 17th century Shakespeare was but one of many popular London playwrights and none of his dramas were printed in his lifetime. The reason so many of his works survive is because two of his actor friends, with the assistance of Jonson, assembled and published the First Folio edition of 1623.

Brevity is the soul of wit.
By Chris Salzer
If you're looking for a complete and expensive collection of Shakespeare quotes, then look somewhere else. However, if you're looking for hundreds of his most famous quotes from his plays & sonnets in an abridged 64 page format arranged by subject for only a dollar - then look here!
As the ostensibly wise Polonius so aptly put it, "Though this be madness, yet there is method in't." Also recommended: Dover's Oscar Wilde's Wit & Wisdom. I read both of them whenever I'm bored and in need some intellectual stimulation - the best two investments per dollar you can make. Get thee to a nunnery! Urr...read this first.

If you love Shakespeare, this book is for you!

This book includes famous quotes from a variety of literary works by William Shakespeare. If you love Shakespeare's amazing words but don't have the time to read all of his plays, this book is for you.

The world's mine oyster
By Inkhorn
Recently I have bought several books of quotations by some of the best minds of all time. Dover editions has several, for example Mark Twain, and Oscar Wilde among others.

This particular one has the advantage of being inexpensive, and does contain many great quotations I don't recall reading before, I feel I must mention two of my favorites for you to consider.

My favorite by far, and I think unbeatable is Shakespeare's Wordcraft (Softcover), which breaks down Shakespeare's quotations down into patterns, and shows he crafted many of these quotes, and how you too can craft quotations of similar brilliance.

It does not use fancy jargon or explanations. Mostly, it shows patterns such as reverberations, reversals, repetitions, and then list quotes, and as you read you can discern what is happening, it's really eye opening.

Another one, the Kindle version William Shakespeare Complete Works Ultimate Collection: 213 Plays, Poems, Sonnets, Poetry including the 16 rare, hard-to-get Apocryphal Plays PLUS Annotations, Commentaries of Works, Full Biography, on Kindle. For a ridiculously modest price you have Shakespeare's complete works. If you don't already have Kindle, you can download a Kindle app for your computer here on Amazon, and experience it that way. With that you have a complete Shakespeare database so if you want to look up an obscure quote like; green eyed monster, time out of joint, or beetle oer the base, you can find every reference even if the words are not side by side. If you wish to look up a common structure like neither..nor, it will show you every place where both these words appeared. This search feature beats most quote sites.

The advantage of this book is that it presents quotations without you having to look for the unknown jewel. I read many good quotations I do not recall reading before. If it was a longer book, it's about 64, and included some of the soliloquys more completely I would probably give it five stars. I realise though that a soliloquy goes slightly beyond the usual scope of a quotation, so maybe it's unrealistic on my part to impose this expectation.

Like all quote books it distils the essence from all his works, saving you the time of diving through all his plays to find the particular pearls, showing you a selection of some of the very best quotes by the master wordsmith of all time.

It's well worth it for how little you pay, and how much you can get out of it.

I think you will enjoy it, and I hope you found this review helpful.

Good, solid book for self-preparation
By kievite
This book contain valuable material that not only gives a student an idea of what exam is actually about but really helps to improve the score. It does not replace a regular textbook or a good teacher, but still can help a lot. It is better tool for preparation to the math part of SAT then any general "all-in-one" SAT preparation book.

The book contains 18 chapters which cover most topics well and three model tests. Those tests are very important preparation tools and are well worth the money.

Chapter 2: "Tactics" is a really valuable chapter. It covers eight very useful approaches to solving SAP math problems. Exercises (with solutions) are good and as far as I can tell are pretty realistic. Three model tests are the real strong point of the book. Each of them is worth the price of the book alone.

Shortcomings are few. IMHO ideas of chapter 2 are not sufficiently reinforced in other chapters. The geometry section can (and should) be enlarged as this topic usually creates for student the most problems.

Also topics are treated as isolated without pointing to bridges between them (for example between trigonometry and geometrical problems).

Some neat tricks possible because a graphic calculator is allowed on the test (and it is IMHO a must ) are not covered. This is an area that needs another book and a lot of dedicated self-study as few high schools use it. Usage of HP graphic calculator can improve your results considerably. But the problem is that you need to master it. Other things equal it is better to use the calculator that you know well and get used to.

Highly recommended as an additional book to a good "all-in-one" SAT preparation book because math part of the test is the most important and most difficult part of SAT test. It can help to improve the score and at the same time save the family some money if (and only if) the student has adequate motivation to study himself/herself.

TOO Detailed
By R. Kemp
My recommendation:
If you're a math person, this is the book for you.
If you're not a math person, do not get this book (unless you have a ton of time on your hands; and as long as you don't get too down on yourself when you're receiving 100-150 lower on practice tests than you will on the real thing)

Going into the real exam, I figured I was going to get around a 650 because I had miserably failed all of Barron's tests. Luckily, I am not a nervous person going into exams, but if I was, I would have been VERY nervous about this test because Barron's terrified me. Not being a math guru, I did not understand some parts of this book initially. It certainly covered all the topics, but I think it went too detailed into some parts--distracting from the main points. I was very happy to get my 720. I am sure my relatively high score was due to my becoming accustomed to the difficult material in Barron's.

Good test prep book... but too hard
By Dips
After having spent several years prepping for/taking standardized tests I'm familiar with the difficulty of Barron's test prep books. They are indeed excellent content review books, but the practice tests included at the end are well above the difficulty of the actual tests. While this may seem like a good thing, I feel that this extra difficulty is mostly a disadvantage - it will lower your confidence. Not only will you be less likely to pick up the book and do the practice tests, you will also go into the test itself with the wrong mindset. I wish I could provide specific examples of the excess difficulty, but the problems are copyrighted. To give you an idea, you will encounter geometry questions in the teens/20 range on the practice tests that would rarely, if ever appear on the SAT 1 Math sections as the hardest problem. You will also encounter questions about imaginary roots, trig identities, and other Algebra 2 topics that are more likely to appear on the Math 2 subject tests, if anywhere.

I was a 740 student on the SAT 1 Math, a 780 student on the Official SAT guide to Subject tests Math 1 test and a 680 student in this book.

if you're looking for a challenge, pick this book up, but otherwise go for something easier. Good luck!

Women's Slave Narratives, by Annie L. Burton

The moving testimonies of five African-American women comprise this unflinching account of slavery in the pre-Civil War American South. Covering a wide range of narrative styles, the voices provide authentic recollections of hardship, frustration, and hope—from Mary Prince's groundbreaking account of a lone woman's tribulations and courage, the spiritual awakening of "Old Elizabeth," and Mattie Jackson's record of personal achievements, to the memoirs of Kate Drumgoold and Annie L. Burton.
A compelling, authentic portrayal of women held as slaves in the antebellum South, these remarkable stories of courage and perseverance will be required reading for students of literature, history, and African-American studies.

Slaves Who Don't Talk Much About Slavery
By SeattleBookMama
I am torn by this book. On the one hand, this thin volume is entirely primary documents.

On the other, it is women who talk about (mostly) anything but slavery. That's how they've gotten by so far. One was a house slave who speaks about her mistress as family. Another was sold and does talk about escaping to find her mother. It's nearly all we get of slavery here.

Do the poor endlessly speak of poverty? Does a rape victim talk of nothing but rape, or does she talk about everything else instead? And so it is with these women. It feels like Jesus and prayer gets a lot more airspace (and page space) than slavery.

On the one hand, I was expecting...? If I were a slave or former slave, now older and having spent all my life in bondage, would I trust my interviewer enough to confess my hatred of the institution and my master? Or would I discuss the types of escape mechanisms (and no doubt very real religious zeal) that kept me going?

In other words, if you are studying slavery and hoping for several women who have been there to tell you detailed accounts of it, this isn't it.

Not working out...

All narratives are not written equally. This has been difficult to follow and somewhat frustrating to read. I also purchased "Diary of a Slave Girl" which I am breezing through and enjoy reading.

Womens Slave Narratives. Many people think slavery should be forgotten well i am not one of those people. If you don't know the past how can you see the future.I cry every time I read a narrative the visualization of what my people went through is heart breaking.Every time I read a narrative I learn a new type of horror my people endured.
